Congrats! Yes, they will monitor your blood and will most likely do an ultrasound between 6 and 7 weeks.
Pregnancy after ectopic
Hey ladies, just found out I am pregnant again after an ectopic (right Fallopian tube was removed)! My question is, what was your doctors protocol for monitoring your pregnancy after an ectopic? Obviously I know there will be HCG draws, but for how long? Every other day? Will they do an early ultrasound?
I have a message out to my doctor and am having an hcg blood test today so please know I AM in contact with my doctor. I’m just curious about what to expect.

Thank you! That is SO helpful. I’m only 10dpo. I tested way early because I was going in for some lab work already and figured *if* I was pregnant I’d need more lab work. 😂 but that also means I created more work for myself with all these follow up hcg labs.

This time around, I had contacted them late because I was on vacation when I missed my period. So I didn’t get to bloodwork until almost 6 weeks. My HCG was 35,000 on first draw so they didn’t even have me come back in two days and just scheduled an ultrasound. So I would think it depends on how far along you are. If you are very newly pregnant, they will probably monitor the blood until they are able order the ultra and see if the pregnancy is in the uterus.

My doctor doesn't want to do nothing special for me after having my right tube removed from ectopic. No clue why they aren't concerned for me, I express my concern and they still won't do an ultrasound til 8 weeks. I'm 6weeks now and that's when I started bleeding last time 6weeks with ectopic so I'm nervous about it being in right place

Yes there are pregnancy resource centers in my area I just work a full time job and have not been able to go, but in 2 days on Saturday I am going to a place called sneak a peek they do ultrasounds and I told them my concern for ectopic and they said they will do an ultrasound at 7weeks which I will be 7 weeks on Saturday so I'm dying to go to that, I have to pay $50 to do the ultrasound tho they don't take insurance, they are a 3D/4D ultrasound place but do 2D also so I'm happy they accepted me earlier than 8 weeks since My own doctor wouldn't. My doctor said they don't check HCG levels unless you are having complications like intense cramping or bleeding....I was like uh well once you start cramping bad and bleeding it's too late you will lose your tube and I only have my left tube anyways so I was worried to lose it and not be able to conceive naturally. They didn’t even monitor your hcg?? That seems really irresponsible! Like of course it’s probably not ectopic, but there’s a greater chance it is! They monitored mine until I was just about six weeks and then got me in for an early ultrasound to rule out ectopic. I’m sorry they are treating you this way. Any chance you can get a second opinion or switch doctors? Is there a pregnancy resource center or crisis pregnancy center in your area? They usually offer free ultrasounds.
They didn't even draw my hcg level.....they said unless I'm having bleeding or complications they won't do hcg level check. So I guess they just expect you to just sit and wait it out to see if you are going to start bleeding and have a tube rupture it makes me sick how they won't listen to my concerns.
Congrats!! ♥️ I’ve had a couple of losses. After my first one they monitored my blood every couple of days to see if the HCG levels were rising to the levels you would expect.

It’s was over a week by then it was clear my levels weren’t rising quickly enough. Any updates yet?

Thanks! Do you remember how long they monitored your hcg for? My OB just keeps sending me for bloods week by week so far. I’ve had two draws already and am going back for two more next week.
