Membrane sweep experiences?

Hi all, so I’m 40+1 today and am booked in with my midwife to have a membrane sweep tomorrow, I’m absolutely freaking out reading all these horror stories about how painful it is! Is it similar to a cervix check as I had one of those 2 weeks ago which I didn’t find too bad…. Or is it way worse than that🤦‍♀️😬

As someone who could not handle Pap smears the membrane sweep was a breeze for me during my first pregnancy. I didn’t understand everyone saying it was so painful.

Was not painful for me. Wasn't a relaxing spa day. But I wouldn't describe it as painful, just uncomfortable. Just had mine yesterday and was only 1cm dilated. Didn't start experiencing cramping until today

Was not painful. Uncomfortable yes but less than 30 seconds if their able to reach it.

It depends. I’ve now had 4. One with my second pregnancy (which worked-labor and baby within 12 hrs) and three with my third (none of which worked). 
They were all completed by 4 different providers and ranged from barely being able to feel it to 8/10 (tears welling) pain.

I feel it feels close to a cervix check... (hell, those suck too).. but a tad worse because they put their finger through and swirl it around to loosen your water sac from your uterine wall. It's bare able
