So about two weeks ago I slipped and fell down the stairs. Went to the er and they did an xray which the results came back as possible cuboid fracture with displacement. The pa in the er put me in a hard splint and crutches and had me follow up with a foot and ankle specialist. He said that the xray looks off but he's not 100% sure its actually fractured, i have bruising, swelling, and pain when i wiggle my toes. He put me back in a hard splint kept me nonweight bearing and sent me for an cat scan . Wrote me out of work till February 1st. My insurance has refused the cat scan twice because they said the xray is diagnostic enough. My follow up appointment is on Thursday morning. My question is do you guys think without the cat scan he'll keep treating it as a fracture, i was hoping he'd switch me to a boot for comfort and still have to use the crutches. I'm worried without the scan he'll want to put it in a hard cast until we can get the cat scan. My coworkers said i should just come into the er and ask for a cat scan since i work there but i really dont want a hospital bill ect.
