How many times a day do you take your dog out to pee? For apartment living. Not ppl with backyards that can just open the door 😬

Right now it’s 3-4 times and she does really well. I’ll be home alone during maternity leave so I’ll have to bring baby every time she goes outside 3 floors down. Is 2 times too little? Or considered cruel?

At least 3, but ideally more than that. I mean, how many times do you pee in a day? It’ll be more difficult with a newborn, but you can’t neglect your dog. Thankfully I didn’t have pets when my daughter was a newborn. But I did live in a second floor apartment with no washers in the unit. Every time I had to do laundry or check the mail, I’d put my daughter in her wrap carrier. Something like that is probably your best option.

3-4 times a day is the minimum you should be taking them out. More if they are small. 2 is too little, dogs can also get Utis, urinary stones, and other problems from holding in their pee. It isn’t healthy for them.

2 is definitely cruel. Think about how often you need to go to the bathroom. 
We do a minimum of 6 times a day. We let our dogs out before breakfast, after breakfast, then one more time before heading to work. Then before dinner, after dinner, then one more time before bed.

When I was in this situation I would take her out 3-4 times a day unless she asked to go more. She could hold it 8 hours while I was at work with no issues but if you're home it should definitely be more. You wouldn't like needing to hold your urine that long, so it’s unfair to ask your dog to.

You're essentially only taking your dog potty every 7 hours or so. Extremely messed up. Doesn't matter what floor you're on... take hour damn dog potty every 2 to 3 hours. Don't be cruel. It baffles me that people make their dog go potty every 6-8 hours. Only time our dogs ever go 8 hours is when we are sleeping. You wanted the dog, give that dog a good life. It's bad enough the dog is in a small apartment with stress.
