What to do? Ready for weaning or no?

My baby is 5 months old next week.

This morning I woke up to his poop being very weird, I mentioned it to my partner and be was just like "oh he had some banana yesterday, it wasn't mashed, just gave it to him whole so he can chew on it" apparently it wasn't even much at all, probably what would be one bite to us. I'm annoyed he didn't even think to talk to me about it before it, I'm usually with him 24/7, I was just out taking a little break this time.

He also admitted to him having a couple cheesy puffs a couple days ago. He said the baby was watching his older brother eating puffs and was shouting and moaning in frustration, reaching his hands out for them and was very happy when he got some too.

Thing is, I'm not even mad at him, I know the frustration his talking about, whenever I'm eating his looking at the food and crying too, when I'm holding some snacks in the same hand I'm carrying him with, he snatches them so fast.

He has about 40oz of formula a day, I started keeping track of his bottles again for a while because I worried its too much, but it seems to be OK, just the max amount of what's recommended for babies his age.

He does have breaks with his bottles to burp or whatever, his never struggled with any gas or anything.

What do ya'll think about maybe carrying on offering him pieces of food whenever he shows he wants it? I'm worried his too young, with my eldest we didn't start till he was 7 months and babies only 5 months 😐

Too early? Do I tell my partner to stop giving him food?

Also wanted to add that his 17.6lbs as of yesterday, so healthy weight
