Late and negative tests?!

I am about 8 days late and have taken two pregnancy tests (one digital and one pink lines) and they have both come back negative. I have had very slight spotting (brown) but nothing more than once a day when I wipe. And very mild cramping. Period or pregnant?! Maybe I'm stressing too much at this point....
