Painful periods

So does anyone STILL have very painful periods even on birth control? My cramps still cause me to double over, sit down, lie on the ground sometimes because they’re so rough. I told my obgyn about it last year and she said “I wonder if you’re ovulating through the pill” and I’m like what? I’m not supposed to ovulate at fucking all like it’s a combo pill. Is that a possible thing? Or was she just trying to frighten me? It’s an odd thing to say cause I’ve not seen anything about ovulating through the pill. Especially considering I’ve been taking my pills exactly as instructed.
