Why ultrasound photos?
Am I the only one who feels that posting pregnancy ultrasound photos is in poor taste? Maybe not so much here, since this is an app for discussing women's health, but more so on mainstream social media like Facebook or Instagram. My issues are threefold:
1) It is not necessary. If you tell me you are pregnant, I will believe you. There is no need to prove it.
2) It is oversharing. Being shown the inside of your reproductive tract is very uncomfortable. I don't know many people who post ultrasound photos of their IUDs, fibroid tumors or genitalia on social media. This is no different. It is a part of your body that is private and that I do not feel comfortable seeing.
3) It is just not appealing. The fetus is not yet cute or pleasant to look at. Half of ultrasound photos don't even look like a baby. Heck, you wouldn't even know that it was your baby if it wasn't labeled with your name. Your obstetrician might as well just keep a few stock photos on hand and tell each patient that it is her baby. No one would know the difference. Please, just wait until the baby is out of your body and cleaned up to show me a picture of him or her.
Rant over.
