Tick bite in child advice plz
UPDATE: they drew his blood and got him started on a strong antibiotic. We won’t know results for a week however they believe it is Rocky mountain spotted fever and the head is out. It’s just swollen from the bite! Thank you all for the advice!!! ❤️❤️
So we took my kids to the mountains in Colorado last weekend. We got home Tuesday night. Wed morning ( yesturday ) my 6 year old was getting ready for school and I was doing his hair and I felt a large bump on the base of his skull area, where his hair ends and I was like confused he doesn’t have a mole so I checked and it was a HUGE tick that’s been there since we went hiking. Idk if it was last Friday or Saturday since we went both days to different mountains. My husband pulled it off but the head is still in there. We were confused because the tick was still moving when we removed it. So Google said if the tick is moving after then the head is out. But there is a bump still with brown in it so I personally think it’s the head. Anyway, tonight he’s showing symptoms. fever, his whole body hurts. Neck hurts, severe headache ( his words ) nauseous and dizzy. Those are symptoms of lime disease. Idk to take him to the emergency room or wait for urgent care in the morning. He feels so sick. And I’m worried sick right now myself. My husband is saying to wait till the morning to go to urgent care and if his fever doesn’t go down with the meds he took them to take him to the ER tonight but me being worried mama I cannot settle down in fear.
Should I wait till morning or take him now? What would you guys do? I just don’t know much about any of this but everything I’m reading on it says it’s serious and fatal especially to children under 10.
