tomorrow i plan i calling out of work because its my birthday weekend and i just want some extra time of work is it ok if i just text my manager saying im not gonna be able to make it in without making up an excuse?

You could but if you say your sick and then get caught going out be prepared for repercussions. Knowing it was your birthday weekend in advance I would have organised time off.

Did you forget to put in for it? I would just be careful posting pics online if your connected to coworkers on there. Some people are shady with spreading gossip about that if they will be short handed and can’t find coverage (depending on industry your in!). But you can call in sick, no explanation required

You dont have to provide a reason to call out, however too many unexcused absences can result in probation and termination! Better to arrange time off in advance and have it approved than be unexcused.

You don’t necessarily have to give a reason but if your employer asks “why” are you going to lie? There’s nothing wrong with an employer inquiring as to why you’re out either. Did you request the time off with fair notice and have it denied? I respect people taking time off, we have lives outside of work, but birthdays are obviously predictable - to just call out without having given your employer a chance to plan the days without you is unfair.

At our work place if you are off work on a Monday or Friday, you need a Dr certificate,  if you say you are ill. You have to make prior arrangements
