If you take COVID guidelines seriously- what do you think?

If you don’t take COVID guidelines seriously, please keep your comments to yourself. Thank you. 
I babysit my friends daughter. Her and her father tested positive today. But her daughter was negative. Are we considered close contacts since the girl was negative? We have a birthday party and then special lunch to go to this weekend. Thank you for your respectful thoughts!

Personally, if I were exposed to someone directly exposed to that level (she lives with them), I wouldn’t go to a party or anything. I’d rather be overly safe than sorry 🤷‍♀️

That's a tough choice. It almost might not be worth the risk. But if you and whoever in your household that were exposed to the girl are fully vaccinated and boosted, you should be okay. I don't think the current CDC guidelines would require you to isolate but you can check them. You could wear N95 or KN95 masks just to be safe if you go.

A negative in a home of positives where you have close contact you should assume the negative is false. You shouldn't be attending any parties right now.

You could always reach out to the host and ask if they are comfortable with the situation. We did that when my oldest son was exposed at school. I called daycare and asked if the youngest could still go or not, they let him still attend. My oldest was still able to go to school, they were not quarantining the class or even making them mask up again. We were just told to monitor and test if he got any symptoms. He was negative. I did make him wear a mask again for two weeks though.

I think no matter your stance on guidelines if you don't want to risk endangering your child you should do what you feel comfortable with. It sounds like you're worried so you shouldn't be around people who might be around sick people.

The child you babysit for tested negative? I’m that case, you would not be considered a close contact, but SHE would be, assuming she lives with them.

I would say not because the daughter was negative. If the daughter was positive I would say stay away from the party just in case but since she’s negative I would say enjoy!
