Weird question but when were you taught to properly wash your private areas?

Was it just assumed that you would know to wash them when u were little and just beginning to bathe/shower by yourself? So essentially were you not "taught"?

Was it part of a puberty or "birds and the bees" talk?

Randomly figured there was probably a proper way to go about it and just asked/looked it up?
