Period question

Can someone tell me what this is please? Is it normal? I'm on day 1 of my period so its always usually my heaviest day, I've had clots before but nothing like this. It's in 3 pieces. When I went to change my tampon 1 bit was on the string so I pulled it off and saw the other 2 pieces on the tampon. It feels quite tough
