How bad was getting your IUD? I’m getting mine Friday and I’ve heard so many mixed things. I’m 24 and have 4 kids. One set of twins. My doctor denied me to get my tubes done saying I was to young and would probably want more kids or if I got a new partner ever would want more with that person.

If you’ve never had children vaginally, then the first time will hurt a lot. For me it was god awful. I’ve had a kid, but I wasn’t fully dilated when I had an emergency C-section. Women who have given birth vaginally have an easier time with it. For me, insertion was super painful, but it was worth it 100 times over. I love my IUD. I’ll do it again and again.

My first one (before kids) hurt like hell. It was awful. Second one, after two kids, literally didn’t feel it.

A few seconds of period like cramps. I took naproxen and i was fine.

It hurts when they insert it for a few seconds followed by cramping. I’d recommend taking Tylenol beforehand. I’ve had an iud inserted 3 times and I’m a baby when it comes to paid so it’s not “that bad”.

If you're really done having kids then find a new doctor. On Reddit r/childfree has a list of doctors who will treat you like an adult who knows what they want.
