hi. so last night my boyfriend who is 24 (i’m 19) told me that he needed to tell me something and he told me he’s been hurting my kitten, angel. he said that he chases her and traps her under blankets and picks her up by her tail on purpose and that made me so sick and so angry that i wanted to sock him in the face and tell him to get out of my house but i also feel bad for him because he seemed very remorseful and like it’s an uncontrollable behavior. i can’t tell if i’m blowing it out of proportion but he said he’s been doing it for a while and he was watching her the past few days while i was out of town and she runs away from him and hides in the basement whenever he’s around/ near me which is very unlike her. he told me he used to hurt animals as a kid and feels really bad about it and had a mental breakdown. this is somewhat the last straw for me to validate all of his red flags but i don’t know if i’m correct for thinking that because i’m trying to not get into anymore abusive relationships. he told me he’s cheated on every girl he’s been with (and he’s polyamorous so that was a red flag because he must’ve broken the boundaries in those relationships too??), he had sex with a 17 year old last year while he was 23 (very predatory and sadistic? but he also feels immense guilt and need to tell me all of this), he never uses condoms and knows i’m not on birth control and he seemingly has a severe impulse problem and hyper sexuality. he comes off shy and sort of socially awkward but he’s very sweet and affectionate and caring to me so i’m just very confused and off put by the situation. he’s sleeping downstairs on the couch and i don’t know what to do or what a normal person would do in this situation because i feel guilty and need help.
