Gash on head - stitches?

Question

My 3.5 year old son was helping me garden and he (for some reason) threw his metal shovel in the air and it came back down and hit his head.. 
I’m terrified that it needs stitches?
He’s acting fine and only cried for 5 minutes

They may just be able to glue it. That's usually their go to here now if they can instead of dealing with stitches. It's worth taking him just to get checked out regardless. You don't want it to get infected.

That looks old. You can stitch only fresh wounds.
As it is on his head in hair, and it is not bleeding, I would not even go (if you have done teetanus vaccine to your child, if not, go and get at least that). That just might leave a scar. I would on the other hand go to get stitches asap, if the wound was in face or other really commonly looked at place to minimize scars.

Go to the urgent care because sutures can only be done within a certain timeframe and it’s best to have a provider check it out in case
