Tampons hurt

So I have tampons in the past as they are much more comfortable and less messy than pads (Atleast I wore them during the day only)… anyhow since I got pregnant, had my baby, was on birth control so periods were light I just used panty liners. After switching birth control method I have regular periods, so I decided to try a tampon, it felt sooo uncomfortable I got it in and everything , wiggled a little but it was soooo uncomfortable I said no and took it out, I assumed my period wasn’t h wasn’t heavy enough. So I decided during another period cycle to try an extra small tampon during my 2nd day which I had a heavier flow, but same UNCOMFORTABLE 😣
