Earache from cold or ear infection??

Question

Have you ever had a earache from a cold? If so how did it feel?? I currently have a terrible cold and today my ear started to hurt. I haven't had an ear infection since I was a child! I don't even remember them honestly. 
So just curious if I need to go to the doctor or not. I hope not as I don't have insurance and the cheapest to be seen is $140!!

You have to remember that your ear nose and throat are connected, so if you get a runny nose, it’s going to go down your throat to your chest, it may also go to your ears, the eustachian tubes may be clogged up with mucus, you can try taking a cotton ball and putting Vicks vapor rub on it and putting them in your ears, it can help with the pain and discomfort, it’s also antiviral, if it gets worse, then by all means either get checked out, but my go to for everything, from Covid to upper respiratory infection bronchitis you name it is taking honey and cinnamon and mixing it in a cup into a paste and eating it with a spoon, it doesn’t taste great, but it’s my go to fix for everything. I also do those emergency packets that fizz with water, very condensed water like the width of your finger. I do a double shot back to back, and if I have a throat irritation, I do strong menthol or lozenges like Fishermans friend or Cepacol. That’s my go to Fiks for everything I have not taken an antibiotic in well over 10 years. It breaks fevers, it does everything. Take care of yourself, hope you feel better
