Have you given your child under 2 Benadryl for flying?

My daughter travels well (or she did on our last 5 hour flight) but she was so tired and really couldn’t sleep on the plane. We have a 6 hour flight next week so I was curious….Have you given Benadryl to help make sleeping on the flight easier? I’m genuinely just curious! Thank you! If yes, how much?

No and that’s very unethical. Benadryl can go the opposite way for kids and make them hyper rather than drowsy. Do NOT give Benadryl for your reasoning.

Antihistamines like that are really not safe for small children.

Talk to your dr. Benadryl isn’t recommended for kids under 6. We had dr permission to give it to our son at age 3 and while it did help his allergic reaction, it also jacked him up. He was so hyper and on edge he couldn’t sleep. It was exhausting.

We haven't flown with her yet and she's 3 but benedryl is not safe for children under 2. Unless for some reason the pedi prescribed it, which I have seen but I don't necessarily agree with it. However, giving babe medication not approved for their age group without doctor consent is just wrong in my opinion and can be dangerous.

Nope. I made sure to bring engaging activities onto the flight with the anticipation that my daughter may not sleep at all. 
What always helps the most is bribery 😆 
I brought a bag of M&Ms and would give her one at a time for good behavior and threaten to take them away if she was not listening well. 
Worked like a charm!  
Texture books were a great activity. I also brought the small “paint pads” where it’s a little cardboard book with a paint brush that you fill with water. When you put it against the book colors appear. And then when the water dries the colors disappear and you can “paint” over and over again.  
I also brought a tablet for her with movies downloaded on it. She ended up having no interest in it, but I thought it was going to be a good idea 😆
