2nd baby // breastfeeding

💕

So with my first baby I was a new mom obviously and when he was born it was by C-section, and the first day in recovery I allowed him to latch to my boob and he fell asleep.

Well we stayed in the hospital for 3 days but where I stayed tired he stayed in the nursery unless I asked for them to bring him to us or jf he was gone all day they would bring him at the end of the day or late in the day. Well I tried breastfeeding again on day 2 but not for long because I gave up and fed him the premade baby bottles they were giving him.

I knew nothing about breastfeeding when we were sent home so we bought a can of formula in case and the first night we were home when he woke up hungry I let him latch and he did until he fell asleep. So we put him down and what seemed like an hour later he woke back up and I decided to give him the bottle because my boobs hurt so bad I cried. (I knew nothing about cluster feeding or how often baby was supposed to wake up.

But when he was a week old I tried to pump and my colostrum was leaking but the flange was too big but I was producing colostrum. Long story short I ended up flat giving up.

So here is my question. I know for the first 3 days baby feeds off of colostrum, and the more frequent baby feeds the faster milk comes in, but where I didn't keep him on the boob and breast feed much in the hospital or at home is that why my milk never came in? I always thought that I wasn't able to breastfeed but since I've done research to prepare for this baby my mindset has changed to "well maybe I can I just didn't push myself hard enough"
