When can you offer your baby some water?

Does anyone offer their baby 1-2oz of water? I think it helps with them getting used to a bottle ( if you are breastfeeding) but also it’s been so hot some extra fluids shouldn’t harm him. I can’t remember when I started doing it with my other two.

No water until 6 months. Breastmilk and formula have plenty of water to keep baby hydrated.

I EBF and have always been told not to give water. Because breastfed babies don’t need it, breast milk being so bioavailable and higher water content than formula. I live in Florida, so it’s hot here.

Babies kidneys cannot handle water until 6months -  if you want baby to get used to a bottle, try pumping and giving breast milk that way. We used the como tomo bottle with both, as it most directly mimics breast shape and feel (though, my two would take it out of any kind of bottle to be honest)!

You can pump and put it in a bottle, breast milk has so much water in it. No water is recommended until 6 months.
