Cover/cup on laundry detergent-clean it?

Saw this on a fb page and my mind was blown. I always just put the cover back on!

I mean we use pods now. But it never occurred to me to wash out the lid unless something got spilled on it or something.

I don’t use the cups, I just eye ball it lol

When we used liquid detergent I just put the cap back on. Had too many incidents where I forgot and spilled detergent every where. We use soap nuts now, so no container or lid to deal with at all

You mean the cup that the liquid pours out of? Yea, that gets tossed into the washer with the clothes, easiest thing to do.

I don’t even measure, I just pour since the soap holder inside the washer has a max line so I know how high to fill it.

I keep the cap on it to make sure there are no spills and I eyeball the amount I'm putting in. If I do use the cap I rinse it with the water filling the washing machine then put it back. I also have a small rag under the spout and lid making sure drips are caught (just in case my husband doesn't put the cap back on correctly)
