Birth control

So I went to my six week appointment yesterday and talked to my midwife about different birth controls and I told her that with my first I had the progesterone only pill and that made me more irritated and it didn't regulate my period overall I hated taking that pill but as soon as I stopped taking that pill and was making the switch over to a new one I got pregnant again. So this time around she prescribed me the mini pill to see if that works. She also wanted to see if I'd be willing to do the depo shot every 14 weeks. What I'm trying to ask is what's your ladies experience with the mini pill and or the depo shot.
