Prednisone Stomach/GI pain, FET Protocol

Rebecca

I am doing my first FET cycle and have just started on my protocol:

3x day Estradiol 2mg

1x day Prednisone 5mg

1x day Baby Aspirin

(Later it will get bumped up to 4x Estradiol per day, and then Progesterone introduced)

I’ve always had some stomach issues/food sensitivities and I think mild IBS, but since I’ve started on my protocol I’ve had some new and pretty uncomfortable pain from my stomach all the way down through my intestines.

I was just reading how prednisone and aspirin together can definitely cause that, and even bleeding, ulcers and in rare cases, perforations. I then read up on why Prednisone is even being prescribed (as I already know why the Aspirin is), and all I can find is about how it can help women with repeated implantation failures. Well, this is my first FET and I’ve never had a miscarriage that I know of, so is it really necessary to take the prednisone?

(I know, I know, “Dr Google” is not a great source but I can’t help myself!)

Of course I will ask my doctor when I see her next week but I’m just curious if any of you had GI issues and/or couldn’t handle the prednisone? Or were you even prescribed it at all? I feel like I’ve seen plenty of protocols from women on here that didn’t have prednisone. I have no known conditions so I just don’t see why I’m on it, unless just to cover all bases. I wonder if the benefit outweighs the risk of potential bleeding/ulcers.

Thank you in advance for any experiences or insights!!
