How would you respond?

Hey Guys,

So I am in a dilemma. I am a teacher at a public charter school. An acquaintance of mine has reached out to me through FB messenger asking me for my opinion of my school as she is thinking about sending her children there. The problem is…while I think my school is ok, it is full of problems and I honestly wouldn’t reccommend anyone send their kid there. I mean, it’s not the worst school in our area and from the outside looking in it does seem pretty good. But I am an insider and so I know of all the problems and I have personally felt very disgruntled at the way things are going.

But with that being said, I don’t feel comfortable making negative remarks about a school I work for. That could end up getting back to my principals and I could very well lose my job over it. I don’t talk about my school at all on social media and I don’t even list it as my work place. But our town is small and so I’ve met tons of people over the years through my work so of course friends of friends will know where I work as well.

So, what would you do in this situation? How would you respond to her?
