Ovulation dates 💫

We have been TTC for the last few months based on the ovulation date the app provides along with 2 other apps (yes the app without a doubt does not know my body) I have had 2 beautiful babies and I have used this app to predict my ovulation dates for those pregnancies but something seems different this time around. What days around your ovulation do you try to make a baby? I am just curious and wondering if maybe I should start using the ovulation tests to make sure I am ovulating around the predicted date. However I am just so confused on how they work.
