Suing for unwanted pregnancy. Bill proposal

Another day another debate. ☺️

Should women who get pregnant be able to sue for an unwanted pregnancy? Since abortion access in Ohio is denied after 6 weeks and 3 days gestation. Should this be an option for those who are required to continue a pregnancy they did not seek to create?

We all know pregnancy takes 2 parties and how pregnancy comes about can vary between consensual and non-consensual so we are not debating whether or not someone should have an abortion. That’s not the point. At least for now.

Specifically should a person be able to sue? How will that look like? Would child support now begin in utero?

I attached the last screenshot because I also want to know in the case of children should the parents also be able to sue no matter if they traveled to have an abortion and/or completed any legal processes.

Yes, but instead of the person who impregnated them, I think they should be able to sue the government for emotional/verbal abuse, mental/psychological abuse, spiritual abuse & coercion, assault causing bodily harm, financial/economic abuse, discrimination and sexual abuse.

Well I’d personally rather have abortions be safe, legal, and accessible. Since we apparently live in a theocracy now though, sure why not. Someone is going to have to pay for all the medical bills related to the pregnancy. Again I’d rather have single payer care, but fuck that right? Both parties contributing should have some responsibility. There’s also extra money needed if the pregnant person misses work, and probably other stuff too.

Lmao they’d have to actually care about the health and safety of women and children for any of that to happen.

They need to start rolling out the red carpet for pregnant people! I’m talking benefits, MAT leave that makes freaking sense, daycare coverage etc. let’s not even talk about healthcare. I could go on and on here

I only say no because court fees are a lot ,and not many people have access to afford lawyers. I do support having deadbeat dads that weren’t responsible enough to use protection to have to pay child support. Definitely think it should start at pregnancy to pay for doctor visits, and delivery.

I agree.

I think they should get whatever support they needed whether it’s food, bills, childcare, etc

Should pregnant people be afforded access to benefits of any kind given to babies post birth while in utero?

If anything, they should be able to sue the state government, not the father of the child. 😂🥴

Then maybe a little bit of both.

Class action is more about bringing changes to the law, whereas individuals will be benefiting more in a financial perspective.

No No No🥴 It takes 2 too tango, both individuals are at fault for an unwanted pregnancy. Get the Father for child support, literally no more than that is necessary. Also,if this bill passes can men sue the women as well for this unwanted pregnancy/child? That would only be fair...

I see where you're going with this, but do not believe it is a good idea. There are too many factors and proving a case would be difficult and expensive. Both parties are responsible. (discussing consensual sex, rape is a different story) I wouldn't hate seeing a man being held responsible for half of the medical bills and such throughout the pregnancy. This should be included in any child support agreements.

I don’t see this working out unless there was written or some sort of proof stating that you didn’t want to get pregnant. The other person could easily lie and say that you wanted to get pregnant and now are trying to sue for money. I don’t know it seems like it would turn into a he said she said ordeal unless there was some sort of proof? Maybe I’m wrong.. idk 🤷🏼‍♀️

Would text conversations suffice? If you tell someone “hey I’m late and took a test and I’m pregnant. I made all necessary steps to not ensure pregnancy on my end did you do the same” just as an example would that be good enough?
