How to learn from a textbook??
Hi. I know this technically isn’t what this topic is meant for but I am STRUGGLING!
I start the fire academy in a few weeks and we are expected to have completed online material (including quizzes) prior to the in person class.
I watched the videos for one of the modules and tried to take the quiz but it asked questions from the textbook not covered in the videos.
Ever since I was a kid I’ve had a hard time learning from solely textbooks. I can read the chapters inside and out and take notes but not understand anything from it. Once I’m in a lecture i grasp materials easier.
Usually I’m able to do well just based off of lectures, or if a big test is coming up I can study off the textbook BECAUSE the lecture had already happened and things were explained. That way, it’s just retelling me what I’ve already been taught.
Now I’m being thrown into a whole new setting where I need online quizzes to be done prior to the lecture and I need to basically teach myself the material.
What do I do to help myself? If anyone has any ideas, it’d be GREATLY appreciated! ❤️
