Blankets?

When do we retire the sleepsack? I still feel more comfortable with her in the sleepsack since I don't know how she will do with a blanket but I'm wondering if anyone has started giving their 12 month a blanket to bed? If so what kind?

I would do a sleep sack until you don’t want to anymore. Personally do not give my children a blanket until 2 years old! My kiddo just sleeps without a blanket until then and she is good to go!

I was told no blankets until 2. Either way my daughter loves her sleepsack. I would be too nervous to give her a blanket now.

In my uneducated opinion it should be absolutely fine to do this now at one year old? They have got that reflex now to gasp for breath with their mouth if their noses are covered and As long as the blanket is cellular and has lots of holes to breathe through in case they get it over them I don't see how it could be very risky not that they are so big. My daughter has blankets but I do go to bed at the same time as her and in the Same room so I always wake up when she makes noises, maybe it's different if they could somehow do acrobatics with their blanket without you noticing! :)

My pediatrician friend with a kid the same age as ours said one of those stuffed animals with the tiny blanket are ok now. But I never asked about a regular blanket. I am too scared so I was going to veer on the side of waiting until 2. My girl sleeps with a sack and without just fine. So it’s only what I think of the inside temp for that given night. I just make sure her feet are always covered by the night outfit or sleep sack.

My 2.5 year old just stopped using her sleep sack a couple weeks ago. 🤣 She takes after my husband who loves to be wrapped up in blankets. She was using a sleep sack plus three other blankets. She loved it! We will use the sleep sack with our son until he doesn’t want it anymore. 🤷🏻‍♀️ As for blankets, I think we added those when our daughter was around 18 months.
