Is it necessary ?!

Ladies is it necessary to get someone who knows about cars in order to buy one? In terms of deals etc/ i want to buy a new car for the first time. Husband says the dealership will take advantage of me but he isnt helpful either when i ask him to come with me as a man. I dont have male friends or close girl friends either. Also my husband and i are just not even on good terms and i really need to buy this car to gain some independence. I plan to put 10k for down payment and the rest finance.

If he isn’t helpful at giving you a deal or making sure you’re covered then no he shouldn’t be going. Just don’t let this hinder your relationship if you’re already on bad terms(if you two are working it out)

If you’re buying new and from a reputable dealership you should be fine with some basic precautions. If you know what kind of vehicle you want compare prices before you go. They should mostly be online. Depending o your bank you may be able to do a full ore approval and everything which would tell you an interest rate and expected payments. The dealership may or may not be able to beat that rate. Be careful about the add-ins as that’s where dealers make most of their money.  Know what you are and aren’t interested in before you walk in (things like extended warranties, tire packages, gap insurance etc).

I went and bought my car by myself. If you feel confident enough to do it then go for it. Most places will tend to rip you off but it’s normally just on pricing. Always test drive before you buy. Make sure everything feels good to you. Feel free to ask the dealership any question you may have and try to get the vehicle cheaper. I got mine for 3,000 cheaper than what they were asking for it. Don’t over think it. Everything will be alright.

I wouldn't buy a brand new car, get a really new second hand from a reputable dealership. They loose their value SO quickly

Just don’t add on any extra packages like paint protection, extended warranties, maintenance packages and that crap. Lol that’s where they got me on my first new vehicle. Also, don’t finance it over a ridiculously long time (like anything more than 5 years). 
I’m not sure where you live, but where I am there’s literally a vehicle shortage, and it’s very common to have to order a vehicle in advance and wait ~6 months for it to arrive (all Covid supply chain related). And there are basically no deals to be had because dealerships are no longer trying to move vehicles from the lot to have space for new ones arriving.

We saved nearly double the price of the car by resisting additional contracts for maintenance and extras of that sort. We also bought during the end of the year when prices were lower due to the new year models coming out. 
We bought new.
If you’re going used then it absolutely pays to have someone who can spit an issue with the car.
