Has anyone started oatmeal at 4 months old?

My son has reflux and my pediatrician said starting a little semi solid food might help. But everything I see online doesn’t really recommend under 6 months. And I did BLW with my first and would like to do that again. He is having slow weight gain and is super crabby from gas and reflux! He takes Pepcid in the morning. Just trying to see what others experiences have been?

I heard babies stomachs aren’t physically ready until 6mos and any dr who suggests otherwise is using outdated info. I don’t have a source to quote, it’s just what I heard but do what you think is best for your baby!

No no no, respectfully, contrary to popular belief doctors don’t know everything. At 4 months baby digestive systems are not ready to properly digest food (plenty of negative side effects from doing so). Please do the research look into it yourself and form your own opinions as well. Please, also look into the book super nutrition for babies as an amazing resource for what foods you should begin baby on when ready and which to avoid.

Maybe not oatmeal as it’s to textured, not sure we’re you are located but in the uk we have a range of baby foods from 4 months+. You could always boil some vegetables and blend them right down so there smooth. Just nothing to heavy that baby’s little stomach won’t be able to handle.  Xx

Our pediatrician told us we can start trying rice cereal if our son seems hungry. He just turned 4 months last week and is still super small since he was a preemie, so we are gonna try it out with him soon.
