Leg is still numb after epidural

Bridget

Has anyone EVER had this happen or know someone who has…

I had my baby girl early at 36w3d on July 31st. I was in an induced labor for 50 hours. Started the induction process at 1cm with a cook ballon that had to be taken out after 12 hours and only got me to a 2cm and a few hours after that was taken out I had a second one placed. The first one was not placed correctly but the second one really got things going. I was also on pitocin with both cook balloons. I started to feel very strong contractions that wouldn’t ease up and i caved and got the epidural at only 2.5cm. I had the epidural for 24 hours. When the anesthesiologist was placing the catheter I felt a pinch in the right side of my back. I said “ow” out loud and the anesthesiologist asked if I felt that. I said “yes” and he replied “well you shouldn’t”. My right leg fell numb within minutes. After I pushed my daughter out and they took the epidural out of my back I couldn’t walk for 24 hours. I had to use a bed pan twice before being moved to postpartum and no one seemed to understand that I couldn’t walk on my own to go to the bathroom. I soon had complete feeling in my left leg but my right leg from the knee down was still numb. Anesthesiologist came by twice and basically told me it wasn’t normal but he didn’t know why it was doing that but he didn’t screw up. It is now 11 days past the delivery of my daughter and I STILL CANT FEEL MY LEG. They sent me home like this with no answers. I have already fallen twice in my home (thankfully not holding my daughter) and I need help getting off my furniture and I limp when I walk because I’m just so weak. I can’t be left alone with my baby girl because I’m scared I may have another accident.

My OB knows about my numbness and about one of my falls. She doesn’t have answers either. I see her again on Monday. I’ll be seeing my primary care doctor soon as well if they can’t get me answers.

Any advice?
