PCOS, Birth Control (Ring), Non-Period Spotting, and Painkillers
Those of you with PCOS and use birth control (bonus points if you use either ring specifically.) I'm sure you've experienced bleeding/spotting while your ring was in, right? (Before or after your intended period time.)
Well, I've got PCOS, and have been using Annovera for almost 2 years now. And for a while it took some time to stretch out my periods to 2-3 months in between, without early spotting or period occurence. It's been close to a where now, where I could go 2.5-3 months with out a period or my period starting on its own despite the ring being in.
However, almost a month ago, I started bleeding for no reason, no signal, no nothing (which isn't unusual, I fortunately don't have alot of "PERIOD'S COMING!" symptoms... which is both a blessing and a curse. lol ) And it had barely been two months since I initiated my last period. (So it came, on it's own, a month early.) So, I waited about a week to see if it would die back down on it's own. It didn't. So, I pulled out the ring and let it be a full-on period.
A couple days later, I put it back in, and typically it dies down and quits within 2-3 days of insertion. However, although it has died down... down to a light tampon being too much (if I were, but don't, use 1 all day), but still needing a pad (and occasionally some, er, "pulp" [can't remember the word, lol]).... I'm on the end of the SECOND week of this (equivalent of) half-a-tampon (light) bleeding/spotting. Again, no pain or anything. It's just annoying that it hasn't stopped yet.
This is the first, perhaps second, time this has happened since I started using birth control again, 2-3 years ago. The other time (beginning of the year), it maybe was about a week overdue for stopping. And early on in that week, but after it should've stopped, I sent by doctor a message. But by the time my doc responded, it had stopped. So her recommendation was no longer needed.
She responded by saying to take a high dose of ibuprofen for 5-7 days. (I think it was ibuprofen. I can't remember exactly, and can't access my messages for some reason right now.)
So, all that to ask:
Have any if you PCOS ladies, who use birth control, have had this long bleeding thing and had your doctor prescribe this high-dose painkillers to stop it? And did it work?
It's just that high dose painkillers, when I'm not in pain, seems... potentially risky.
