Heavy periods and am ablation

Tia

I have an appointment next week with my primary for a few reasons. I really wanted to talk about possibly getting an ablation. My periods are so heavy and I'm laid out on the couch the whole first day or too because I'm in so much pain. I'm not on birth control anymore so Idk if that's the cause of it or because of the covid shot. I have had several coworkers have heaver periods after the shot but the time I stopped breastfeeding and I started my period again the morning I got my shot. I can't compare to know the true cause. I get really tired, achie and I have huge clots for 3 days. My periods don't come on gradually either. I was in the middle of a med pass and I started my period and that quickly a clot fell out and I had to change my clothes Immediately. I remember having heavy periods in middle school but nothing I remember being so bad in high school. I wasn't on birth control the first 2 years of my marriage and I don't remember periods like this at all. My mother in law told me about her ablation and how it stopped her periods completely. My husband had a vasectomy I'm not sure I could even get the ablation since I'm still able to get pregnant. Does anyone have any experience with this? Do I sound like a candidate? Are there any draw backs to this procedure?
