Membrane sweep?

So I'm looking at a medically necessary induction within the next week or less but I've been offered a membrane sweep if I want it. I'm leaning toward yes because I would really like to go into labor on my own and avoid pitocin if possible. Will be 38+1, last cervical check showed 3cm dilated and 20% effaced. Anyone had a similar experience and willing to share? Did it work for you?

I am not nearly as dilated as you. But I just had one Wednesday and it’s Friday night no baby no signs either. I was only 1 and super soft. I had two done with my son (previously) and I still was induced. To me worth the shot of going into labor more naturally but at the same time don’t get your hopes up. I’m also being induced in a week. We will try again in a couple days so I’m hopeful good luck!

My first pregnancy I had it done and still went 5 days over due and labor started on its own and didn’t come until 41 weeks my second I had it
Done twice and had to be induced at 41 weeks didn’t come until 41+2

Had a membrane sweep at 39w4d, it was Wednesday morning, and I was already 5 cm dilated. My waters broke at 4 am on Friday at 39w6d, and I had my son several hours later. 
So idk if it was the sweep that helped, or dilation, or it was just the right time. 
I’d say try the sweep because it’s minimal intervention. Yes, very unpleasant, might hurt a bit, but in my opinion better than pitocin. 
90% of my friends who were induced without any labor signs, had complications: slow or no dilation, longest contractions and labor, 4 hours of pushing with baby stuck, emergency c-sections, etc…
