Ovulation test detecting a pregnancy ???

I’m posting this on the behalf of my cousin. She is 4 days after her missed period. She took a pregnancy test and it was negative. So, I suggested that she try a ovulation test and it came back with a dark color line but not as dark as the control line. I felt that she maybe pregnant because how the ovulation test came out…any advice cause she is driving herself crazy not knowing what’s going on with her period. Do she supposed to see a positive pregnancy test by now? This is her ovulation test

That's a no. If OPKs detected pregnancy, we wouldn't need pregnancy tests. Two very different hormones. You can have an LH surge before your period. Also that OPK is negative. If the pregnancy test was negative, it's negative.

Not to build false hopes but I found out was pregnant with an ovulation test twice now. It was the day my period should have started and I didn’t have any pregnancy tests but I had an ovulation test and I took it. the test line was darker than the control line and I felt like that wasn’t right because I should’ve been starting my period not ovulating so that made me go get a test and it was positive. Second time kind of the same thing my cheaper pregnancy test weren’t picking up anything so I thought I’d try an ovulation test that was a very dark test line. so then I went to the store bought a first response test and yup i was pregnant￼￼￼! So since that is lighters I’m not so sure. But I guess just wait and see.

You can also get a LH surge before your period and you need a high HCG for an ovulation test to be positive for pregnancy. If the pregnancy test was negative, her period will most likely be starting soon.

Thank you all for your help. She started spotting two days ago and now TMI, she is bleeding heavy.
