Lump around the anus

My partner has a lump at the side of his anus he said it soft but painful yesterday he said it bleed he has put some pile cream on it and it hasn't gone down he's had it for a few weeks and hasn't got better he won't go to the doctors. I have no idea what it could be he said it doesn't itch just hurts.
