10 year old period help
Hello, Let me start by saying I’m not too sure where I should post this…. But any advice will help
So I’m torn right now on whether I should take my 10 year old to the doctors or not…. She started her period for the first time in July. Well august rolled around and she started her period as expected on the 18th. Thing is she hasn’t stopped bleeding yet and it’s going on 3 weeks…..I know when you first begin your cycle can be a little abnormal but should I be concerned and take her to get checked out??? Please any advice will be helpful…. Thank you in advance!
Update:
Thank you to those who used their kind words towards a concerned mother who’s never had to deal with this before. I know that hormones can cause a longer period but I wasn’t too sure if I was to be concerned or not…so thank you to those who helped, but to the others who rather attack me for not knowing, you guys are the reason why people are afraid to speak out when shit goes bad….I didn’t need your harsh words while I’m sitting here asking for help. The pediatrician at her doctors office left and she has no doctor. I would have called the doctor if they were still there, but they aren’t. I even went as far as trying to reach out to other clinics i their network and am currently waiting on a call back. I wasn’t sure what to do so I asked an app for women about their periods….all in all I ended up having to schedule her an appointment at the urgent care
Thank you for your help!
2nd update:
So we ended up going to urgent care, and the doctor told us everything is ok and not to worry. She explained that for the first year of having your period it can be long short heavy light, many different things. Since she’s 10 she’s too young to start on hormones. The doctor also told us that we shouldn’t be worried about her bleeding longer than normal unless she’s bleeding heavily (filling pads every 30 minutes). So although she’s been bleeding for 3 weeks now, it’s perfectly fine since it’s not heavy bleeding…I had to share in case anyone else is in my boat with a young daughter starting her period.
