37 weeks induction b/c of small baby

I’m currently 34 weeks. My son has consistently been small (roughly 2-3 weeks behind in size) and I’ve had weekly ultrasound since 20 weeks and now weekly stress tests to monitor him. My OBGYN and my fetal medicine Dr decided it would be best to induce me at 37 weeks as still birth is a higher risk the longer you wait with small babies.

My first child my water broke at 35 weeks. She spent a month in the nicu and is now a perfectly healthy 2.5 year old. With this pregnancy, they will give me a steroid shot to develop my sons lungs and then induce me in 3 weeks, which hopefully means no nicu time if all goes well.

Has anyone else gone through something similar? I’ve never been induced obviously so I’m kinda freaking out. This news just got dropped on me today lol. My daughters birth and nicu stay were so traumatic for us and even though they’re reassuring me, I’m terrified.
