Flabbergasted sometimes…
Every day I am flabbergasted by social media and what other parents do. I know a mom with a 3 year old and a literal newborn she just pushed out two weeks ago and she is out here at a soccer game for her 3 year old, going on a jog, and cooking a 3 course meal.
I know another mom who took her 2 year old on an international vacation to Iceland and the UK. They’re out to dinner every night and he is sitting there calmly eating his meal.
And I know another mom who taking her kids to the zoo, the aquarium, the park, etc. every single day, having picnics and going on trail walks. With a 4 and 2 year old.
I need to know wtf I am doing wrong because I can’t do any of that. I take my kids to Target once and by the end of the trip they’re done. I take them to a restaurant and I have to heavily distract them with the iPad, coloring, and toys, otherwise they won’t sit down or stop screaming. I try to take them to the park and after 20 minutes they’re running around like crazy people ready for a nap or crying/whining about something. They’re 4 and 2. I get through my day with Ms. Rachel, one trip outside, some activities, and then I let them just free play. I couldn’t get my 4 year old into PreK this year because we couldn’t afford it. I do my best to make play dates for him but they exhaust me to the point that I fucking dread them. Especially when they’re with the one upper moms talking about how their 4 year old can read chapter books and quantum physics lmfao.
How do these other moms do it? I just can’t imagine.
