Why would he say this?

Me and my coworker was talking the other day about him leaving and going to another company. he wasn't for sure if he wants to or not I told him to do whatever he thinks is best for him and his family. after our conversation he looked at me and said well if I do leave I'm taking you with me. Not sure why he would say that. we have completely different job titles so me leaving would make no sense and I have no plans to.

Maybe he was just joking!?
