I have a hard time trying to label myself politically. I know I'm left leaning but it seems once you really get into politics that can mean so many different things it gets to be a lot to read on and understand for your average busy person. I'm trying to be more educated on politics and I find that when talking to others online they want a specific label / subgroup for my political leanings but I don't know what to say because each is very complex and I don't always agree with every aspect.

Are specific political labels really this important? Is it important to know exactly what to call yourself politically?

I've been labeled 'radical' because I believe people should have basic human rights. I find it hard to talk about this stuff with people these days.
