Any experience?

Anyone have experience with gestational hypertension. The Drs are saying I have it but my BP has only been over 140/90 twice and only in the ob office. I'm Ranging in the 130s/80 and I did with my first pregnancy in 2020 also. They want to induce but I don't feel it's necessary. My labs are fine , I'm checking my BP at home. No signs of pre e. Just curious if anyone has any experience with this and other opinions. I told them I might consider it between 38-39 weeks but not 37.

I have it but I definitely had more then a couple high readings starting with my first pregnancy I had to take baby aspirin & same with this pregnancy but it’s not as bad this time around & they always planned to induce me around 38-39 weeks cus of it but it’s weird that they’re only going by that with less then 5 readings 😯😯 I would definitely try talking to someone about it because you honestly could’ve been anxious or nervous or something else at the appointment not exactly due to actual hypertension that’s weirddd ‘ they might be trying to cover themselves by having your delivery planned and getting paid instead of you going into labor on your own and someone else doing your delivery 😭

Yup! I have gestational hypertension as well. All it takes is two separate blood pressure readings to be diagnosed. I have unfortunately had several readings over 140/90. They like to induce at 37 weeks because baby is considered full term at that point and it is in the same spectrum as pre-e and the longer you stay pregnant the higher risk for developing pre-e you are. I will be induced on 10/5 instead of going to the end of October now. My blood pressure has been as high as 150/114 and they should be monitoring labs every week for you to see if you have protein in your urine as well as your protein/creatinine ratio

Kind of nuts they are getting this through 2 readings.
When you had a high reading did they do another one 30-60 minutes later to double check?

I have it. HBP can effect the placenta and baby, it’s not just preeclampsia to be worried about. 
It was much higher with my first and kept increasing despite taking labetalol and aspirin. I was induced at 38 weeks. With my first, baby stopped growing around 35 weeks (based on ultrasound) and my placenta was very small and not functioning as well as it should.
This time while it’s not as bad, it’s still elevated (130s/low 80s while on labetalol and labetalol) and I’m being induced again at 38 weeks because of my history. This time my doctor says it is not worth the risk to go beyond 38 weeks as my BP is creeping up the further along I get. 
I trust my doctor and her recommendations 100%, she’s the expert.
