rubbed me the wrong way

so me and this guy have been dating for the past i wanna say 2 weeks. and we talk everyday all day literally. this morning we were talking before work and he was just rambling on about relationships and such and i wasn’t really listening(i was getting ready for work) but he said “like you aren’t the best looking but you ain’t ugly either” and that caught my attention. i took that completely wrong cause if i’m not attractive to you why are you wasting my time.? i tell him all the time how handsome he is to me but he tells me i’m not the best looking. wow. and to make it even worse HE APPROACHED ME i didn’t approach him!!!
