Was this professional of a nurse?

Question

I was at a follow up ultrasound scan for my 4 month old to see how his abcess growth is doing and this is how a conversation went with a nurse doing his observations:
Her : Are you sister or mother? 
Me : I'm his mom 
Her : Oh okay, his your first?
Me : No I have another son who's 4 
Her : Oh really? Both planned? 
Me : Yeah, both planned (my first actually isn't but didn't want to get into it)
Her : Same dad for both? You's still together?
Me : Yep and we are!
I was just thrown off by all of these questions, she didn't ask me how old I am but I'm assuming she's close in age as me if not the same, I'm 23 btw.
It's not bugging me that much but feel as if those questions were a little too personal? Idk though, are questions like that acceptable from professionals or even strangers?

I’m not a nurse but an MA. I get nervous sometimes when dealing with patients, let alone a patients parent/guardian. Some questions or convos I’d have with them might not be 100% professional but it’s never inappropriate. These aren’t exactly inappropriate questions and maybe she was just trying to make conversation as some people tend to do without the whole meeting being quiet. If you aren’t uncomfortable with it than I wouldn’t think too much about it. Maybe she was new and trying to have friendly interaction, I don’t think it’s something that needs to be reported, like I said, some nurses tend to talk more or converse more.

Completely unacceptable and highly inappropriate of her. I’d tell the office and make a complaint. Even though you weren’t upset by it, she could easily upset someone else.

Was this in like a small talk way or in a documentation kinda way? My pediatrician always asks if my daughter is our only child, if we are having another, if I’m married, if my husband lives with us, etc. when she was an infant they’d ask if she was planned. Medical providers are supposed to document social history, so from that aspect it’s not wildly unprofessional. If she making small talk it would be uncomfortable as they’re pretty personal questions, but working with kids it’s probably more common for her. I work in an OBGYN office and it wouldn’t be out of this world for us to make small talk with patient like that. It’s all we talk about lol.

Sounds like she was just making small talk it's not like you HAD to give her an answer you could have just said you rather not talk about that & you'd rather focus on your child right now....I guess I don't see an issue to me those aren't very personal questions

I don’t think it’s ever appropriate to ask if a pregnancy was planned unless it’s the ob asking.

I’ve had SO many times where I have to list my medications and random medical staff, like dental hygienists even, ask me why I take it and what brought me to the point of needing to take it. 
I’m so used to this shit now that I’m prepared for it and just reply “is that important for you to know? Cuz I’d rather not share”. Don’t have to be mean, just assert yourself and draw the fucking line in the sand.
