If I drink on this medication, does it make the medication not work? Or is solely just because it makes you feel terrible if you drink on it?

I’ve been on this medication for 3 to 4 months now. But, today I actually would like to enjoy some wine. Then, I got to thinking…I hope the medication still works if I have wine. I don’t feel like contacting my DR over a silly little question right now. So please don’t say contact your DR. I’m just looking from others with experience with Metformin.
