Should I get video baby monitor or is audio only okay ?

We dont have a huge budget right now, so I’m trying to save where i can. I found a baby monitor that is audio only for $20, but i’m torn on whether having the video aspect is necessary. I know it’d be nice, but i dont want to spend the additional $30-50 on a video one if it’s not a big deal. Baby is 6 weeks right now, if that makes any difference

I know that video isn’t necessary - it’s newer technology and people were just fine without it - but it’s so nice to have. As a baby, my daughter made a lot of noise while sleeping and it was nice to just look at the monitor and see she was fine instead of running to her room every time. I had some postpartum anxiety and it really helped when I woke up at night to be able to see her sleeping peacefully on the monitor. Once she got a little older, we did sleep training and I don’t know that I would have been comfortable letting her cry if I couldn’t see her on the monitor. She’s now almost 3 and we still use it. Sometimes she plays alone in her room while I’m doing something else around the house and I take the monitor so I can keep an eye on her.

My son is 3 months and rn I only use it for audio really because he isn’t sitting up or going far. Just need to hear when he’s crying. You should see if there’s any mom groups near you if you have social media. Sometimes moms give things away for free I was lucky enough to receive a nice free baby monitor.

I was thinking this when I was pregnant with my first!!! I almost got audio but last min decided video. DEF GET VIDEO! It’s sooo worth it! I was literally just telling my husband I’m so glad we did get video. And she is 2 now and still use it for every nap/bed time! Makes me feel better I can visually check on her through monitor at night! Defffff recommend video
