Crib to toddler bed?

When is the correct or average age to convert crib into toddler bed?? I’m a FTM and have no idea..

We switched around 2 years old - actually a bit earlier. It depends more on discipline for your child than anything else. It took a bit of work to get our second to stop leaving her bed, but once she got that leaving the bed was not permitted at night she was fine. We all like the toddler bed better - mommy doesn’t have to lift and she likes being able to get out on her own. If your child doesn’t understand limits keep them in the crib. If they are pretty good at following direction then you can probably move them down early.

FTM here, my pediatrician said keep her in the crib as long as you can lol.  She’s 20 months, still in crib.

I waited until it was no longer safe for her in the crib (climbing out, getting legs stuck) I skipped the toddler bed and put a twin bed against a wall with a bedrail so she can't fall out.

My daughter has been in a twin bed since 20 months, we started with just a mattress on the floor for a few months then got her a twin daybed with a trundle underneath.

I would wait until they can either climb out of the crib or get really close to it. My daughter never tried to climb out. We switched her to a toddler bed right after her third birthday because we felt bad she was still in a crib. Every kid is different. I would say if you're starting to think about potty training it might be worth to switch to a toddler bed. My girl wasn't ready to potty train until right before her 3rd birthday

I think it depends. A lot of parents seem to do it when their child tries to climb out of the crib. My daughter never did that but shortly after turning 2 started asking for a big girl bed. We converted right around 2.5.

I converted my daughter’s at 2.5 bc that’s when I caught her trying to climb out. My son was 2 in June and I’ll probably convert it by next summer.

It's honestly different for every kid. It just depends on what you're comfortable with and how the child sleeps. 
I personally converted my child's bed at 14 months. 
Some people will do a toddler bed at 1yr and others still have their kids in a crib at 3yrs. It's just up to you.
