Ultrasound for DVT?

Is this an accurate way to diagnose?
I ask because I had one done in the ER last night that came back negative for DVT and the doctor said it’s just a muscle sprain. But like, my whole ankle is swollen to the point that I can’t see my ankle bone anymore. He sent me home and told me everything was fine. I’m just feeling unsure.

Yes. It is called a venous doppler. You should follow up with your primary after being in the emergency room and they can help you figure out what’s going on. Blood clots are typically found behind the knees, not in the ankles. The thighs swell up, not the ankles. In my case, mine didn’t swell, because pieces of the clot broke off and moved into my lungs before it got to that point. However, I did feel like the circulation in my leg was cut off at the groin for about a month and was misdiagnosed with sciatica.

I've had ultrasounds of both legs to check for DVT because my D-Dimer lab test indicated high, suspicious of blood clots. Also had ct scan of lungs to check blood clots due to D-Dimer blood test being high.
