Universal credit/joint mortgage?

So my partner and I (now ex) separated. We own our house together and the mortgage is due to be renewed v soon. It's a bit soon to be selling the house etc so we've agreed to continue on with the mortgage and try get a short term deal (I.e. 2 years) and I'll live in the house and hopefully be able to manage the mortgage and all other bills 🙈 as a single parent I would be entitled to universal credit but I'm worried if we own the house together would this prevent me from getting universal credit as a single parent? Any other advice would be appreciated as I have no clue about all of this!! Didn't exactly plan to be a single mother at 26 with a 16 month old lol
